I don't have the 161 but I did put on a 363 this past year and I really like it. You ask about the split screen, what I like about my model is that you can adjust it to make it equal on each side or smaller to larger.

I know I am enjoying it better than the Lowrance that I had, I know there are a lot of guys out hear that swear by them but I didn't have too much luck with mine, sent it back to the factory twice.

But hey that is my luck. Had a Humminbird on my old boat so bought this one. Just my thoughts. It shows the fish and gets me on and off the lake (Erie) when I need to.
