Fly-Fishing:
Fly-fishing advocates will find excellent lake and pond fly-fishing for Brook Trout, averaging 2 to 3 lbs.; Rainbow Trout
averaging 2 to 5 lbs. Some stream fishing is available in the West Little White River. Fly-fishing is advocated in the Brook Trout Fishery. Suggested
tackle, your favourite 4 weight to 7 weight fly rod will be adequate for fishing here. Trout are often active on or near the surface, so a forward
floating fly line is preferred. However, be sure to bring a sink tip or sinking fly line that allows you to fish to a depth of 3 to 6 feet. Fly rods should be
spooled with at least 50 yards of backing to handle the fast running Rainbows. Leader tippets should range from 2X to 6X. Belly boats and waders for belly
boat users are available at camp; two bass hound boats recently purchased for fly-fishing have proven popular with our guests. Canoes and boats are available
on almost all peripheral lakes.
Fly Patterns Foods available to trout include the various mayflies, caddis-fly, dragon-fly nymphs and flying
carpenter ants, Fresh water shrimp and crayfish imitations should be included in your repertoire. Muddler minnows and woolly buggers have proved effective
over the years, These trout are opportunistic feeders and consequently a general selection of standard trout fly patterns will suffice.
